WORKPLACE WELLBEING ACTIVITY: Wellbeing box

stress ball for work

In our workplace wellbeing activity insights, we help your company introduce initiatives that can improve the wellbeing of your employees.

We hope to show you the reasons why the activities are effective and the results and benefits for your team.

All of the activities are free or low-cost and can have a positive impact on your team.

Every team has a different demographic, so pick your activity to match their needs. Make it as personal as possible. And if you can, implement it as part of your workplace wellbeing strategy.

An easy-to-implement workplace wellbeing activity is a wellbeing box.

During the cost of living crisis financial hardship is being felt by many. This doesn’t just mean we are loosing out on luxuries, socialising or hobbies and interests, but even the daily essentials are becoming increasingly more difficult to cover in the budget for many families.

During this time a wellbeing box can be a welcome addition to the workplace. This could be a collection of items such as bunches of bananas, or even small luxuries including drinks, books, or facial products. Other ideas include information on mental health, physical fitness, employee assistance programs. Some may choose to personalise and do individual boxes per staff member, or others may have a set place in the business where staff can help themselves to a variety of items.

For those companies already offering a wellbeing box, why not think about offering day-to-day essentials on top of what you already offer?

Here are our best ideas of what to include in a wellbeing box in your workplace.

Mental health aids

One of the main issues employees and businesses highlight is that many of us require a little extra help when it comes to our mental health. Include meditation aids, scented candles, journals, or links to your business’s employee assistance program. You could include further information on your mental health first-aid team.

Physical activity aids

Consider adding stress balls to your company’s wellbeing box. Not only can they aid mental health but they can alleviate common musculoskeletal issues such as RSI.

Small resistance bands are a great physical health aid and can be used for a variety of desk-based exercises including stretching and strengthening exercises.

Include sign-up forms for company workplace physical activities such as wellbeing walks.

Mindful aids

Colouring books and crayons are a great way to aid with employee mindfulness. If you want to sharpen the mind add some puzzle books too.

Nutrition

Fruit is always a good idea as an incentive to reach our 5-a-day. Consider what healthy snacks your team would like.

Cookbooks and recipes for healthy meals are a great aid for your team to continue to eat healthily.

Hydration at work is the key to good workplace wellbeing and increased productivity. Make sure your wellbeing box contains the appropriate liquid refreshment or is close to a source of water.

Treats and rewards

Small thank-you cards left at someone’s workstation can highlight a trip to the wellbeing box is deserved.

Personally addressed envelopes with vouchers can go a long way to show someone the company is thinking of them.

Skincare items, golf balls, or spa vouchers; just think about what would be most appropriate for your team.
