EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO BETTER HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Calm exercise

Most of us would like to maintain our health and wellbeing or improve it.

The human body is constantly trying to regenerate and be healthy. Every second it is monitoring what you do and adapting as much as it can.

Surely, we owe the body a weekly check-in to ensure we are helping it. When we carry out weekly one-to-one check-ins with our clients we consider the following five areas that can help you maintain your health and wellbeing and even boost your immune system.

Five ways to improve your health and wellbeing and boost your immune system.

  1. Maintain a healthy diet. As with most things in your body, a healthy diet is a key to a strong immune system. A weekly check can monitor your fruit and veg intake. Eat good, feel good is the motto to remember.
  2. Exercise regularly. We are going to cover this subject in more detail later on in the article.
  3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Your body needs water. We see full bottles of water or glasses on peoples desks all day. Not drinking throughout the day is a recipe for headaches at night and people trying to drink as much as they can later on in the false hope of catching up. If you visualise what your body is trying to do all day you will appreciate it needs water throughout the day.
  4. Get plenty of sleep. This is a tough one and can be linked to lots of factors. We deliver seminars on sleep and our expert mental health practitioners can offer one-to-one advice. I if you would like more information, please drop us an email.
  5. Minimize stress. There are lots of ways you can relax. It can be different for different people and at different times. Take time for yourself, practice mindfulness, practice breathing, connect with nature, laugh more. The most effective way is to talk to an expert mental health practitioner.

These five factors are linked and support or hinder each other. Although we have to monitor them constantly, a weekly check-in can help.

Physical activity

Regular physical activity can strengthen your immune system and help your body fight off infections and viruses. Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity, three days a week.

Physical activity can come in many forms, and it doesn’t matter too much which form it is, as long as it’s safe.

We exercise for various reasons, fitness, weight loss, muscle building or mental health are a few. No matter what the reason, when we exercise, we get some autonomic benefits.

Blood rushes round the heart and water is cleared out of the lungs and airways. This may reduce your chance of getting a cold, flu, or other illness.

Exercise causes a change in antibodies and white blood cells (WBC). WBCs are the body’s immune system cells that fight disease. When you exercise in the right way you are boosting your immune system.

There are signs of a weak immune system. Fatigue, wounds not healing, regular colds or flu and autoimmune disease.

Once these signs appear it can be hard to change your routine and make the adjustments required.

We can’t avoid illness, but we can make ourselves stronger every day.

The challenge is on are you up for it?
