In 2024 Mental Health Awareness Week focuses on ‘Physical Activity for Mental Health‘. It’s not too late to get involved, to do your bit for yourself and your friends and colleagues.
At Corporate Personal Wellbeing, our mental and physical health experts have put together a list of simple, no-cost or low-cost activities that you can quickly implement that will have a beneficial effect on employee mental health and wellbeing.
The list of workplace wellbeing activities is for business and organisations, but even if you work on your own, you can do many of the activities as an individual. Why not join with another person you know who works alone?
Places of work across the UK and elsewhere have been adapting to change because of the pandemic with restrictions being imposed and lifted – back and forth. We have been dealing with working from home, returning to the office or onsite, managing furlough and for some, dealing with the truly devastating impact of the pandemic. Our mental health is under pressure.
The theme of this year’s mental health awareness week is Physical Activity for Mental Health. Our very own experts discuss the links between physical and mental health every day, and we have brought to you our list of activities to improve your mental health.
Activities to start during mental health awareness week.
- Wellbeing walking meetings
Make some of your meetings ‘walking’ meetings. It’s great to stand up and move about. Even better if you can walk outside. - Wellbeing hours
Consider giving your employees an hour to do a wellbeing activity of their choosing. Ask them to share what they have done with colleagues. If your company rules don’t allow this, then try organising a mental health wellbeing lunch hour or a wellbeing break. - Wellbeing surveys
Ask your employees how they are feeling. From simply asking the question in a meeting to detailed surveys, every time we ask others how they are feeling, we are supporting them. - Wellbeing box
Fill a box with lovely goodies. From healthy snacks to self-care products. Encouraging staff to take time for themselves is a great way to improve mental wellbeing. - Preventative physical wellbeing clinics
Most employees can suffer from MSK issues such as a bad back or a sore shoulder or hips at some stage in their lives. While we can treat MSK injuries reactively, these proactive clinics are designed to identify and treat niggles before they get nasty and impact your team and your business.
- Wellbeing videos
These short wellbeing videos are sent directly to your teams. They are designed to improve employees’ mental and physical wellbeing and are especially suited to those working from home. Topics include, mindfulness, ergonomics for home, ways to wellbeing, postural stretching, how to boost your immunity and many more. - Wellbeing walking clubs
Get a group together to go for a walk in a green space. Are you still working from home? Then arrange to walk at the same time and share some pics and comments. Forest bathing is proven to improve mental health and wellbeing. - Wellbeing training
Our mental health trainers and therapists deliver mental health training from one-to-one sessions to mental health for managers training and NVQ’s. Complete the form to set up a free consultation on designing a bespoke mental health training programme for your employees. - Wellbeing work pets
Therapy pets are proven to reduce stress. Ask someone to bring in their pouch if regulations allow. Watch out for allergies though. - Wellbeing pop-op
Wellbeing Pop-ups are a great way to improve your employees’ mental and physical health. Highly engaging, fun, and interactive, they are designed specifically to suit the needs of your workforce.
